Government and Community Relations
ILRC’s government and community relations activities cross a number of our programs.
Our government and community relations activities ensure that people with disabilities are represented in all aspects of our community. These activities range from delivering disability awareness training, participating in government and community consultations and committees, hosting events to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities, arranging symposiums and workshops, and participating in community events like the Pride Winnipeg Parade and Manitoba Access Awareness Week. This is also an important program that ensuring that persons with disabilities can lend their voice to policy decisions that affect the community.
The Community Outreach program is instrumental in creating events committees each year to host events such as our annual cabin fever social, Dec. 3rd Celebrations, United Way activities among others. These committees are comprised of consumers with disabilities and other community organizations that see a need for supporting ILRC related events.
